When freight has to fly or cross an ocean, the Landstar network handles air and ocean forwarding, customs clearance and the trucking at both ends. One contact, door to door.

Door to door
An international shipment is more than the flight or the voyage: pickup, export documents, the main carriage by air or sea, customs clearance at destination, and final delivery. Through Landstar’s air and ocean forwarding and customs brokerage services, I can arrange the whole chain or just the part you need.
Air is the fastest option for urgent or high-value freight. Ocean is the most economical way to move large volumes and heavy or oversized cargo, including break-bulk shipments that don’t fit in a container.

A non-vessel operating common carrier books space on ocean vessels and issues its own bills of lading without operating the ships. As a licensed NVOCC, the Landstar network can move your ocean freight under its own bill of lading.
Air is fastest and suits urgent, lighter or high-value freight. Ocean takes longer but costs far less per pound for heavy and large shipments. I’ll help you weigh transit time against cost.
The Importer Security Filing, often called 10+2, is information U.S. Customs requires for ocean shipments before the cargo is loaded on a vessel bound for the U.S. It’s usually filed by a customs broker.
Commercial imports into the U.S. generally need a customs bond: a single-entry bond for one shipment, or a continuous bond for regular importers. It can be arranged through customs brokerage.
File your entries and the ISF, arrange your customs bond, help classify your goods, coordinate clearance with partner agencies such as the FDA and USDA, and advance duties and ocean freight charges. Landstar’s brokerage covers U.S. imports, including in-bond, warehouse and foreign-trade-zone entries.
Yes. Over-dimensional and break-bulk cargo that doesn’t fit in a standard container can move by ocean on specialized equipment, with trucking to and from the port.
